Jordan Kobert

Jordan Kobert is CEO and co-founder of The Breakaway. The Breakaway’s mission is to unlock the thrill, joy, and pursuit of peak performance for everyone who seeks it. Today, The Breakaway is a performance coach for passionate cyclists backed by YCombinator, General Catalyst, Norwest Venture Partners, and others. Tomorrow, The Breakaway is your personal coach in your pocket leveraging all your data to help you find the joy of performance more often.

Prior to founding The Breakaway, Jordan was Head of Product and a founding team member at Urbandoor, which was acquired by AirBnb in 2019. Before Urbandoor, Jordan was one of the first employees at Strava, where he ran Business Development and Commerce leading Strava from early days to millions of users. Prior to Strava, Jordan helped define mobile business development at Google, where he joined as part of the company’s acquisition of AdMob. His earlier roles included running Business Development and Advertising at HomeGain and his own startup, Ztail, which looked to disrupt the recommerce world for mobile phones.

Jordan graduated from Bates College with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and has an MBA from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. He spends as much of his free time as he can biking, running, and skiing with his wife and two daughters near their home in Truckee, California.

Katie Shaffer

Katie Shaffer is CEO and founder of East River Public Relations & Marketing. She launched the firm 11 years ago, bringing several decades of experience in publishing, marketing, writing and public relations to a diverse range of clients. She came up through the ranks of the editorial world working for a magazine in New York City, a textbook publisher in the Bay Area and directing a marketing department for a scholarly book publisher. She also worked as a journalist and columnist for Swift News and as a director at Switchback PR + Marketing, Inc.

Katie’s work has been professionally recognized by her peers, winning a number of Silver Spike Awards from the Public Relations Society of America, Sierra Nevada Chapter. She currently serves as a director on the Truckee Chamber of Commerce board and chairs the marketing committee for the Contractors Association of Truckee Tahoe. She recently spun off from the Truckee Community Cares board after a 15 year stint, two as board president. Additionally she founded and runs the micro outlet Sierraville.org.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Katie earned a B.A. in English from Ohio Wesleyan University and studied information sciences as part of a master’s program at Denver University. She is currently building a tenth home with her tireless husband. A die-hard sports fan, she is also a life-long reader and enjoys outings with family and friends.
