Josephine Martin is a Senior Advisor to TrailRunner International, based in Washington, D.C. Josephine brings more than 25 years of corporate external and internal communications, crisis, and reputation management experience across a range of industries, with deep experience in the pharmaceutical and health care sectors.
Most recently, Josephine was a Managing Director at TrailRunner International. Before that, she served as Chief Communications Officer at Steward Health Care, where she led all internal and external communications including executive, crisis, financial, M&A, litigation, and reputation management across the corporation and for more than 30 hospitals nationwide as well as a large-scale physician network. Josephine also had oversight of marketing, paid media, and digital and social media.
Before Steward, Josephine led communications at several organizations including Purdue Pharma, the Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers Association, and the Federation of American Hospitals, and held leadership roles at firms such as APCO Worldwide, Ketchum, and Golin.
Josephine began her career on Capitol Hill and held a range of positions including serving as Communications Director for the Senate Finance Committee and for the late Senator John Chafee of Rhode Island. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in political science.
Josephine and her wife live just outside Washington, DC in Arlington, Virginia with their daughter, who has recently graduated from college. They are active members of St. George’s Episcopal Church in Arlington and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Nantucket, Massachusetts. Josephine is on the board of Children’s Charities, an organization dedicated to helping low-income children in DC.
In her free time, Josephine likes to work out, ski, surf, cook, bake, entertain, watch football, and spend time in Nantucket in the water and on the beaches. She is a lifelong fan of the New England Patriots.
